Fabolous’ contract reveals details about his demands
12:10 a.m. Nov. 5 - Due to a reporting error, this story misstated the time of the Anoop Desai concert. It begins at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Fabolous loves Snapple and fresh black towels, according to the Homecoming concert contract signed between the hip-hop artist and UNC.
The Sunday show sold 718 seats of the 1,400 available in Memorial Hall.
Until today, the Carolina Union Activities Board was unable to release the contract due to confidentiality.
The contract details some of Fabolous’ requirements, including a black sofa and love seat, two cases of assorted Snapple products and 100 pieces of chicken.
The contract does not reveal what the second Homecoming act, former UNC Clef Hanger Anoop Desai, will be paid.
“It is not as much as I got paid for the State Fair,” Desai said. “It’s below what I have been paid, but its such a great opportunity.”
Desai’s performance was scheduled after his successful act at the N.C. State Fair. His concert is scheduled for 8p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hall.

I guess that to receive the
I guess that to receive the loans from banks you should have a good motivation. But, once I've received a credit loan, because I was willing to buy a building.
These are extremely
These are extremely reasonable demands and Fabolous should be commended. I have a friend who works as an event planner and you wouldn't even believe what some celebrities have in their contracts. A place to sit, food to eat, and something to drink is pretty much the minimum demanded by all celebrities. Doesn't everyone pretty much require these necessities?
Things different artists have demanded in their contracts
According to Contract documents on TheSmokingGun.com (Link provided by UNC10), Check out things different artists have recently demanded:
SOME of rapper T.I.'s demands in a May 2009 contract:
Pre-paid $1000 bar tab or specific liquors, 12 hand towels, cases of specific waters and fruit juices and other drinks, 9 filet mignon at least 9oz each, other specific foods, drinks and candy, and a list that goes on and on
Only SOME of the things Jay-Z required in a 2009 contact at a University:
1 large couch, 1 love seat, 2 matching end tables, 2 lamps, 2 6ft tables with tablecloths, 4 standard folding chairs, 1 full length mirror, 2 cases of fiji water, 6 cans coca-cola, 6 cans red bull, a good 10 different bottles of alcohol (which were excluded due to particular University's policy), a wide variety of specific foods and other drinks, specific types of vehicles used for transportation
Ryan Adams demands (from a 2008 contract):
(and these are only for the dressing room, that doesn't include other parts of the contract)
A tea kettle, strawberry tea, rose hips non caff tea, ashtray, copies of the New York Times, liquid vial of pantax ginseng, white unscented candle, package of organic granola, container non fat no dairy yogurt, large bottle of seltzer water, container of unsalted almonds, 3 cans of diet 7up, 1 large salad with anchovies and tofu; pizza, sandwiches, salads, wings, sushi or other to be determined the day of;
AFTER SHOW TO STOCK TOUR BUS: 2 50 pound bags of ice, 3 cases of bottled water (specifically Fiji or Poland Springs), box of assorted plastic utensils and solo cups, 6 assorted fruit drinks, 1 pound starbucks coffee and earl grey assorted herbal teas, 1 jar of honey, large container of skippy's creamy peanut butter, 1 lg jar of smucker's strawberry jelly, 1 box raisin bran one, 1 box honey nut cheerios, 1 pack of organic granola, 6 containers of yogurt, 4 cans of bumble bee albacore tuna, 6 pairs of men's athletic socks, 1 bottle of listerine mouthwash, 1 bottle of aleve...and that's even leaving some of them out.
Check out some of the other artists if you're surprised by these. Especially the ones in the "DIVA" category.
hey guess what
I don't really know what the point of this article is, but if you're trying to say that Fabolous is high maintenance in the slightest, you should probably realize what could have been.
Just take a look at what some other artists have on their riders: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/backstagetour/index.html
Food, drink, towels, and a place to sit are pretty much the most simple, standard requests. ever.
Daily Tar Heel, you're so ridiculous
Dear DTH, why do you guys suck so much? Seriously, it's every single day. Your "facts" are constantly wrong (the Anoop show is at 7PM!!!!! Why do you keep saying it is at 8?) and your "opinions" are constantly extremely ridiculous.
Also, you would probably shit your pants if you saw some other artists' contracts. This is not a big deal at all.
I wonder what your own personal demands are, as you sit working late at night in the DTH office? Do you ever get hungry or thirsty? And someone obviously requested that you guys have chairs and couches and a tv? Just as you want those things while you are working, other people want things while they are working. You guys are so INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS.
about the chickem
did he get time out? or bojangles?
honestly knowing what kind of chicken he wanted is more interesting to me than attending the show was
Hey jamsandwich!
What's chickem? Does it taste like chicken?
Did you go to the show, or were you sitting at home eating chickem, because your confusing comment doesn't reveal if you did or didn't attend the show
WHO CARES
Snapple, chicken, and towels???? Why is this article even being published?! Is the DTH really that desperate for stories? Do they really hate Fabolous that much? and yet again, the DTH failed to review the concert! Instead, they chose to write about couches and chicken....wow. This is absurd.
And by the way, that is a very small, reasonable list of demands. God forbid Fabolous would want something to eat and drink and a place to sit down.
AND the DTH needs to print the correction about the time of the Anoop concert. This has to be the second time they have misprinted the time as 8 instead of 7, so PLEASE get your facts straight!
#8 Hottest MC in the Game according to MTV
Some chicken and Snapple isn't a ridiculous thing for an artist to ask for. Snapple is a pretty delicious fruit-like drink. If anyone doesn't believe that they should try plumagranite, it’s amazing.
Fabolous did not ask for a swimming pool lined with unicorn horns filled with Krystal and rainbows like Jay-Z. This is significant as they are both on MTV's Hottest MCs in the Game list.
Fabolous is to some degree a relevant and whelming performer as one of the most significant networks for manufacturing pop culture and mainstream music listed him on their list.
MMMMMM....plumagranite.
Very interesting
$47,500 spent on 623 students in attendance = $76.24 dollars of student fees per student
$10,000 spent on 138 people at an abortion debate = $72.46 dollars of student fees per student.
I'm as pro choice as they come, but if I don't see Student Congress getting mad about Fab's student fee per attendee ratio, I can't conclude anything but bias against the pro-life community.
Maybe $47,500 didn't all come from student fees? Anyone that knows more about this than me care to comment?
47500 - 9555 (revenue) spent
47500 - 9555 (revenue) spent on 693 students in attendance (70 of those 88 were students from sponsoring organizations) = $54.75 per student.
The funds came from multiple sources, all funded by student fees -- not just a Congress appropriation or single organization.
Thanks
Thank you, that information is clarifying (and perhaps should have been including in the original article as it gives a more accurate portrayal of the event).
So is $55 per student considered a "normal" expenditure of student fees on an event? I'm just curious...
I can't speak to that, but by
I can't speak to that, but by my math a full house would have brought it down to $20/person in the audience.
47500 - 20250 (revenue of just 1350 people at $15) for 1350 in hall = 20.19
Perhaps with a little POSITIVE support instead of constant trashing from DTH, this could have been a reality.
Some positivity from DTH?
Some positivity from the DTH would have been expected since it's our school's newspaper AND it's Homecoming. Why aren't our Tar Heels coming together and supporting each other!
GET IT RIGHT!
CORRECTION: The Anoop show is at 7 PM on Sunday in Memorial Hall.
If you'd bothered to do any research besides Anoop's twitter, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT.

Barely above 50% attendance...

He's immensely popular and -amazing- though. So that 50% attendance rate statistic should be thrown out. I'm sure he was well worth every penny for those who did attend, though.
